BME Social Enterprise Mentorship Scheme
This scheme was a partnership with CAN and Faith Regen UK (FRUK). The aim of this project was to identify and support BME social enterprise start-ups through a joint programme of practical training and mentoring.Full training was provided for unemployed black or ethnic minorities, who wanted to start up a social enterprise (a new business that trades for social purposes as well as profit) in their local community.
This project provided an intensive mentoring programme which will deliver specialist support to each start up with one-to-one advice, guidance and help in developing soft skills such as networking and personal development in terms of self-confidence. By focusing on the creation of sustainable employment opportunities, reducing barriers to accessing training, supporting entrepreneurship and developing skills among BME social enterprise start-ups, this project aimed to contribute to building a healthy labour market. CIDA's role was that of a business mentor to creative sector focused social enterprises.
