Community Marketing Project

September 2005 – December 2006
Helping creative organisations in Tower Hamlets reach their marketing goals

The Community Marketing Project aimed to provide intensive marketing support to new and existing creative organisations in the CED wards of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

The project assisted local creative organisations to understand marketing and its benefits and helped develop and implement an individual 3-5 year marketing strategy. This included the following support:

Introductory group session – Marketing health check
2 hour introductory session to define baseline marketing activity.

Training sessions
Full-day training sessions led by industry experts around Marketing theory (basic overview), Marketing planning and research, Winning new business, Client Relationship Management, Low-cost marketing options, E-commerce/marketing, Copy-writing and design basics, Public relations, Showcasing, Networking and Marketing evaluation.

Marketing clinics
The training sessions were followed up with marketing clinics with industry experts to help participants implement the learning to their own project or organisations.

One-to-ones
Participants had the opportunity to attend up to 4 one-to-one sessions with one of CIDA's specialist creative industries advisers when additional support was required.

Thoroughout the project participants were signposted to other organisations offering networking, showcasing, grants and development opportunities.

The project was part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund. EMEP (Ethnic Minority Enterprise Project), Tower Hamlets CDA and SSBA (Spitalfields Small Business Association) were CIDA's delivery partners and also offered intensive marketing support to local creative organisations as part of the overall Community Marketing Project.
