Creating Places

With support from the Arts Council of England, CIDA facilitated and produced 'Creating Places - a national conference profiling the role of studio and workspace provision in regeneration. It took place on Tuesday 8th July 2003 at Tate Modern, Bankside, London.
The conference was directed at decision makers in regeneration and studio provision and creative and business clusters and profiled the opportunities and challenges faced by those developing studio and workspace provision in regeneration areas around the UK. From this conference ACE has prioritised artists studio provision in the current round of 'Grants for the Arts – Capital'
This event was part funded by the European Social Fund through the BCIC project and Arts Council England. The steering group was made up of Acme, Arts Council England, Bow Arts Trust, Bristol City Council, CIDA, LB Lambeth, Space, Wasp's Artist's Studios and Yorkshire ArtSpace. Creating Places was sponsored by Regeneration and Renewal.
Jon Snow of Channel 4 News and Dickon Robinson, Director of Development of Peabody Trust chaired the one day event which featured keynote speakers, case studies, and discussion sessions.
