The Microcredit 'Grameen' project is for:
- Women who are unemployed
- Women who have skills and ambitions and are considering self employment
- Women who need financial support to start their own businesses
- Women who are interested in free professional business training
- Women who have been refused loans from banks
Women from ethnic minority communities are particularly welcome. We also welcome and support women who are victims of racial harassment and domestic violence. The Microcredit 'Grameen' Project enables women who have been socially and economically inactive to actively participate in the local economy.

The Microcredit 'Grameen' Project is modelled on proven international experience of successfully given loans and helping women start up small businesses. The loans enable women to utilise existing skills, pick up new skill and generate a secure level of income.
Businesses may initially start up from home but later expand to market stalls then even retail stores.
How Microcredit 'Grameen' Project works
Women with a common interest are required to from groups of five. The group will support each other's business and act as guarantors. No contract are imposed, nor do you need collateral to obtain the loan. Each group member will have a specific role and everyone is expected to actively participate in all decision making processes. Bigger loans are available after the initial first loan has been paid off.
We offer:
- Loans to start up a small business
- Support and advice both in group sessions and one to one sessions
- Training programme which includes: a basic banking package, marketing, book keeping, VAT and accounting
- Guidance and support with business plans
- Experienced staff who will help you access other grants for your business venture.
