What does Skillset do?

• Find out what skills issues exist and what needs to be done to address them
• encourage industries and government to invest in training programmes that can tackle most issues
• set industry standards for training and education providers
• check approve and monitor training providers and hiigher/further education institutions to make sure they are meeting those standards
• develop qualifications which people working in the industry can complete to show the skills they have learned
• provide industry based careers information, advice and guidance
• encourage and support diversity
• promote skills for business thoughout the industry and advise a UK education and training policy
