aliss (Artists and Learning Information and Support Service) is a new service for the arts and education sectors in the West Midlands, funded by Arts Council England, West Midlands. The service is managed by a consortium consisting of mac (Midlands Arts Centre) in Birmingham and Belmont Arts Centre in Shrewsbury (Shropshire LEA's centre for youth arts and the arts in schools), working in partnership with other organisations.

The service provides a wide range of web based resources for anyone wishing to organise an arts project within an education setting, including:

• a searchable database of artists and arts organisations with a proven track record of working in education
  
  
• extensive links to related professional organisations and other web resources
  
  
• guides for the planning, running and evaluation of arts projects
  
  
• news of opportunities and training for artists and teachers
  
  
• case studies of example projects from around the region
  

In addition, Artists and Arts Organisations included in the online database have either completed, or are in the process of completing the procedure for enhanced CRB disclosure. Please feel free to contact the information officer with any related queries.
