Film London Artists’ Moving Image Network (FLAMIN) have launched the latest round of FLAMIN Productions, offering up to £360,000 over 3 years in production funding to the capital’s artist film-makers.

Film London will greenlight up to five new moving image artworks, with awards of £20,000 to £50,000 available per commissioned film.

Funded by Arts Council England, FLAMIN Productions is a unique production fund which provides artists with the opportunity to produce ambitious and original moving image works. It is the only scheme of its kind in the UK, funding large scale, single screen works which represent a major step in an artist’s practice.

The scheme attracts some of the capital’s most innovative moving image artists with projects that push the boundaries of the art form.

The scheme’s recent successes have included Ben Rivers’ debut feature Two Years At Sea, which won the FIPRESCI Award for the Best Film in the 2011 Venice Film Festival’s Orizzonti section and was released theatrically in the UK through Soda Pictures. Elizabeth Price’s West Hinder premiered at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead, in an exhibition that resulted in her nomination for the Turner Prize 2012.

We are delighted to be offering this unique opportunity to more London-based artists, who challenge not only the viewer, but the art form itself.”Since FLAMIN Productions was launched in 2009, fourteen artists’ commissions have been awarded to Phil Coy, Charlotte Ginsborg, Anja Kirchner & David Panos, Hilary Koob-Sassen, Ursula Mayer, Elizabeth Price, Laure Prouvost, Grace Schwindt, Ben Rivers, Emily Wardill, Sebastian Buerkner, Rachel Reupke, Jane & Louise Wilson and Zarina Bhimji.

The scheme’s success is attributed to backing talented artists with a strong vision, combined with providing development support through funding, bespoke training, advice and professional mentoring.
